“How to Give God a Triumphal Entry”

Luke 19:36-46

Three things we need to understand to be ready

I.      There needs to be submission in me to the Lordship of Christ….

Luke 19:35-36 "35 “They brought it to Jesus, and they threw their coats on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road.

A.   The common people were laying the fabrics of their lives at the feet of Jesus. v36

1.    They acknowledged him as worthy of serving as their King.

2.    The time is now to lay down our possessions at the feet of Jesus… in service to Him. Philippians 3:7–8

B.   Submission is coming to Christ now in His gentleness.

1.    Matthew 21:5 —

2.    Matthew 11:28-29

C.   One must not wait when He comes as Conquering King.

1.    Zechariah 14:4

2.    Revelation 19:13

D.   Submission is growing in Faithful service to Christ.

1.    So that the Lord can say to us -Matthew 25:23 _______________________________________________

II.     There needs to be joy in me in the presence of the Lord.

Luke 19:37-40  “37 As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, 38 shouting: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

A.   How to cultivate a daily joy in the Lord now: Psalm 33:1 — "Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright.”

1.    Thank God daily for the small miracles in your life. v37

2.    Let no one silence you when others feel offended at name of Jesus v39.

Luke 19:39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” 40 But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”

3.    Embrace Jesus now as your soon and coming King …  How?

(a) Receive Him and do what He commands. - Jn.1:12

III.   There needs to be a cleansing in me.

A.   The Lord must clean out His sanctuary.

v45 Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling, 46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘And My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a robbers’ den.”

B.   One day Jesus is to cleanse the world. - Matthew 13:40-43

C.   Our Response: Let Jesus remove every unclean thing from your life.   - Jude 24

Think, Pray and Obey:

1. Lay at Christ’s feet the right now what needs to be submitted.   Your soul?

2. What has Jesus done for you already that you can thank Him.

3. Ask the Lord to cause you to hunger and thirst for righteousness.
