WHITECOURT ROTARY MUSIC FESTIVAL DANCE REGULATIONS:

 

 

RESPECT of all Adjudicators, volunteers and fellow performers is absolutely mandatory. Failure to comply may result in immediate disqualification and no refunds will be issued.

 

 

  1. The Whitecourt Rotary Music Festival is not responsible for any injury incurred during the Festival.

 

  1. Timing starts the moment the dancer enters until the exit.  Adherence to times is mandatory. 

      Time limits have been set as follows:  Solos:  2.5 minutes.    Song & Dance and All Duets:  2.5 minutes.  Trios and Small Groups (3-12 dancers):  3 minutes.

 

  1. A CD stereo system will be provided for the use of the dancers.  All instructors must use this system. CDs must be recorded on quality discs. 

      In the event that a teacher is unavailable, arrangements must be made in advance for a substitute to play the students CD.  All dancers must have an extra CD available.

      An IPOD plug will also be available.

 

  1. Participants may enter only once in any one class.  Teachers cannot enter an award-winning dance from the previous year containing the same dancer.

 

  1. Tap shoes are to be worn on stage only.  NO JINGLE TAPS ARE ALLOWED.

 

  1. Set exam dances are not acceptable.

 

  1. No dance school insignia nay be worn by participants or teachers while on stage.

 

  1. The age groups for solo performances will be 5 years to 18 years of age.

                  Division 1  - 0 to 2 years Dance experience in entered discipline

                  Division 2  - 3 to 5 years Dance experience

                  Division 3  - 6 years and over Dance experience

                  ** Note:  Training prior to 5 years of age is not included.

                  Division 1 is 5-7 years of age.

 

No one under 11 years of age in Division 3

 

Lyrical, Modern and Contemporary Division is based on years of Ballet training.

 

FOR DUETS, TRIOS AND SMALL GROUPS, AVERAGE THE AGES/DIVISIONS OF

THE DANCERS AND ENTER THE APPROPRIATE CLASS.

 

 

 

  1. The Whitecourt Rotary Music Festival uses the following grading system

o   90-100 Platinum Seal

o   85-89 Gold Seal

o   80-84 Silver Seal

o   75-79 Bronze Seal
