Valley College of Medical Careers, is committed to ensuring the privacy and accuracy of your confidential information and to compliance with both state and federal regulations concerning the use of personal information. Other than as required by laws that guarantee to third parties the right to certain types of information, or in response to subpoenas or other legal instruments that authorize access, personally-identifiable information is not shared. In particular, we do not re-distribute or sell personal information collected on our Web servers. This policy applies to information that is collected by any means whether electronically, by telephone, or on paper.

Information Collected

The College’s websites may collect personal information such as name, e-mail address, telephone number and educational interests. Such personal information may be requested for research, public service or teaching programs, or for administrative purposes. Additional personal information.

Web servers typically collect the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer being used, internet web pages requested, the referring internet web page, the browser used, and the date and time. The College may collect statistics identifying particular IP addresses from which our Web sites are accessed.

Use of Collected Information

The College may use personal information collected from our Web sites for the purpose of future communication in order to keep you informed of such activities as campus programs, symposia and/or special events, but only if you are provided the opportunity to opt out of that type of use.

We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our Web site by identifying (1) which parts of our site are most heavily used, and (2) which portion of our audience comes from within the College’s network. We do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable information. This means that user sessions will be tracked, but the users remain anonymous. The College also does research on our users' demographics, interests, and behavior based on the information provided to us upon registration, or from our server log files. We do this to better understand and serve our users. This research is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis.

Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from our web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Some of the College’s sites use "cookies" in order to deliver Web content specific to individual users' interests. Sensitive personal information is not stored within cookies.  If you wish to block, erase, or be warned of cookies, please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn about these functions. We use temporary “session” cookies to maintain information we need to have in order for you to browse from page to page. Session cookies are temporary and disappear after you close your browser. You can prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or disable cookies altogether by accessing your browser’s preferences menu.

Distribution of Collected Information

Subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy, the College will not disclose, without your consent, personal information collected about you, except for certain explicit circumstances in which disclosure is (a) required by law; (b) necessary to protect the College’s interests; (c) necessary to facilitate the Website’s operation; (d) necessary due to your violation of the College’s terms of use or other policies, (e) necessary to prevent harm to yourself or others,  or (e) done in accordance with your instructions.

Access to Your Own Information

Questions regarding users' rights to review, modify or delete their previously provided personal information should be directed to the College department to which they provided the information. Notification of Changes

The College Privacy Policy is reviewed periodically and may be modified at the discretion of the College and without notice to you. Changes to the privacy policy will be incorporated and posted on this site. You are encouraged to read the privacy policy as the College will not notify you of subsequent changes. Accessing the College’s websites constitutes your agreement to the privacy policy, now and as amended. Information will be handled according to the privacy policy in effect at the time the information is used.

This site has reasonable, physical, technical and administrative security measure in place to prevent unauthorized access to or loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.

Policy for Users of the Website Under Age 13

This website is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. The College will not accept or request personally identifiable information from individuals we know to be under the age of 13.
