Project topic description

Reading:

Learning objectives: After completing this assignment you should be able to:

  • Describe the nature of your team project
  • Connect the project topic with real world meaning or application
  • State the objectives of the project and consider the requirements for completion.
  • Be prepared to engage with project assignment P3: Project implementation plan
Describe the topic chosen by the team for the project assignment
  1. Meet as a team live or through the D2L discussion forums to consider potential project topics.
  2. A good project topic will offer each team member the opportunity to make a unique and identifiable contribution to the project outcome.
  3. Choose a location or geography you think would be most suitable for your project and define the boundaries or extent of the area you intend to address.
  4. Find at least two examples of GIS analyses that have posed a similar objective so you can learn by example. Include citations to these cases at the bottom of your project description.
  5. Write a description of your project topic and frame your thoughts following the project topic description components.  Choose one or two questions from each of the six section as a guide for what to include in your project description.
  6. The final document should have enough description to give a clear understanding of what you intend to accomplish with your project, one or two pages in length.  How you intend to proceed with your project is not part of this assignment. That is the purpose of the implementation plan (P3).
  7. Write the project topic description and each team member submits their own copy to the P2 dropbox.
